Meet the 2025 All In Trail Collective Scholarship Recipients

The All In Trail Collective is a group of hungry, younger athletes who are ready to get after the trail running scene. Our athletes compete in all distances, from Vertical Kilometer races to multi-day events. The All In Trail Collective is coached by 8 individuals: Jess Schnier, Rachel Lemcke, Danielle Snyder, Ryan Miller, Yassine Diboun, Lindsey McDonald, Jarred Ervin, and Joe McConaughy. The 19 individuals below were offered a 1:1 coaching scholarship through the future year. The All In Trail Collective consists of over 100 athletes in North America! Our goals with this group are to help encourage younger athletes to go All In on the trail running scene and to create a space to help expand the diversity of the trail running community.

Annually, we accept applications for athletes to join the All In Trail Collective and coaching scholarship. The application period for 2026 is set to begin in December, 2025. Learn more about the program here.

We’d like to give a shoutout to program sponsors, including Rainshadow Running, Aravaipa Running, Trail Animals Running Club, Tejas Trails, Vert Running Series and Daybreak Racing for offering complimentary race entries for these athletes. Additionally, we’d like to thank program sponsors Brooks, TrailButter, UltraSpire, Näak, and Squirrel’s Nut Butter for hooking athletes up with different gear and products.

We’re proud to announce the recipients of All In Trail Collective Coaching Scholarship. We can’t to see what they do in 2025 and beyond! Stay up to date on the All In Trail Collective through our Instagram.

Annette Hermelin

She/her
Seattle, WA
Coached by: Yassine Diboun

Running Goals:

  • Race 100 miler
  • Stay healthy, consistent, and excited about running
  • Place at a competitive race
I’ve always been drawn to an active lifestyle, competing in various sports throughout my upbringing and embracing the outdoors whenever possible. While cross country was my primary focus for many years, recurring injuries led me to explore cross training through triathlons. Since moving to Washington, I’ve discovered a passion for trail running, enjoying the thrill of exploring nature at a faster pace.

I applied for this scholarship because the world of ultrarunning and trail racing is still new and exciting for me, with so many distances I’m eager to conquer. Having the support and guidance of a coach would not only help me navigate the challenges of ultras but also improve my consistency and push my limits. I’m excited to connect with others who share a love for trail running and to discover new strengths within myself through this journey.

Avi Cahn

They/them, she/her
San Francisco, CA
Coached by: Danielle Snyder

Running Goals:

  • First 100 miler
  • Backyard ultra
  • Stay consistent and healthy in training
In 2023, I set out on the Pacific Crest Trail and met the love of my life: moving long distances by the power of my own two feet. Since, I thru hiked the Arizona Trail and transitioned to distance running as way to satiate my craving for miles. I am a lover of long hill climbs and carrying way more water than is strictly necessary

I applied to this scholarship so that I can give myself the tools to push myself to be the best endurance athlete that I can be. The chance to work closely with more experienced athletes and coaches and learn from them to avoid making (as many) mistakes is an amazing opportunity. Ultimately, I would like to pass on what I learn to my own community and share my passion to bring more queer people into our sport.

Brenna Kirkpatrick

She/her
Chicago, IL/Denver, CO
Coached by: Rachel Lemcke

Running Goals:

  • Finish a trail 100k
  • Run a marathon personal best
  • Continue to run happily and healthily
I was raised as a cross country runner and youth triathlete in the rolling hills and swimming pools of Middle Tennessee. I found a renewed love for running through road marathoning while working toward my MD/PhD in Chicago. Now, after dabbling in my first trail running races last year, I’m eager to embrace all of the novel challenges and natural beauty that come along with the sport of trail running.

Completing the Kettle Moraine 50K exposed me to the uniquely communal environment surrounding trail and ultra running, and I deeply appreciated witnessing each runner supporting fellow runners to achieve their goals while remaining steadfastly committed to their personal endeavors. Although I have participated in road running for years, I felt that running the trails presented a wholly new, impactful experience. I have much to learn about both the physical demands and community component of trail running, and the All In Trail Coaching scholarship provided an ideal opportunity for me to access tailored exposure to the sport. Additionally, I hope to make the most of a limited period of remote study in Colorado, and I strongly believed that working with the All In Trail Collective would create an excellent foundation to continue prioritizing trail running even when I return to Chicago to complete my medical studies.

Carlie Graham

She/he
Irvine, CA
Coached by: Rachel Lemcke

Running Goals:

  • Be competitive in a 100 miler
  • Get fast and run hills
  • Integrate myself further into the trail running community
I was born and raised just outside Seattle, WA, where I discovered my love for the mountains and trails during COVID. I am currently a student at UC Irvine, spending much of my time with the climbing team, running sunny trails, reading, and working at a local coffee shop. I have been running ultras for over 2 years now.

Running has changed my life, helping me build self-confidence, acceptance, and grit. I’m passionate about making running more accessible and helping others discover themselves through the outdoors as I have. With this scholarship, I’m excited to elevate my training, expand my knowledge, and have a ton of fun while finding new ways to support others in the running community.

Chris Luna

He/him
Phoenix, AZ
Coached by: Yassine Diboun

Running Goals:

  • 50 mile trail run
  • 100 mile trail run
  • South mountain 50km
I am a Coahuilteco trail runner living in Phoenix, AZ. I run to maintain my emotional, physical, spiritual, and mental balance. I have been running for about 3 years, and I pray to keep moving everyday as much as possible.

I applied to this scholarship because I have reached a point in my progress as a runner that I can see that I need help to keep moving forward. I do not have the funds to pay for a professional coach, which is why this scholarship is important to me. I hope that having a coach I will be able to overcome some obstacles that I am encountering in my training.

Clara Froeschner

She/her
Seattle, WA
Coached by: Danielle Snyder

Running Goals:

  • Race a 200
  • Fastpack the JMT
  • Break 4:30 in the 50K
I am an ultra runner and mountain athlete fueled by stoke & lots of carbs. I grew up in Iowa and rowed throughout high school and college. I quickly transitioned to trail running after moving to Washington as a way to explore. Since then, I have run 50ks-100 miler with a few fastpacking adventures thrown in there.

As an athlete newer to the longer distances, I hope to gain mentorship from my All In trail coach and help balance my training and adventure/race schedule. I am excited to grow my confidence and mental toolbox through working with Danielle!

Collin Sepulveda

He/him
San Antonio, TX
Coached by: Ryan Miller

Running Goals:

  • Run a sub-2:30 marathon, achieving a major milestone in my road racing career.
  • Complete a sub-4-hour 50K trail race, successfully transitioning into competitive trail ultramarathons.
  • Qualify for and compete in a prestigious international trail race. Also complete a 100k.
I am a Registered ICU Nurse and an elite runner with a focus on both road and trail racing, currently working toward a sub-2:30 marathon. Running has shaped my discipline, resilience, and connection to the outdoors, and I am now embracing new challenges by pursuing trail ultramarathons.

I applied for the All In Trails scholarship to support my goal of running a sub-4-hour 50K trail race this year. This goal reflects my dedication to pushing my limits and transitioning my road-running success to the trails. With this scholarship, I aim to not only achieve this milestone but also inspire others to explore the beauty and challenges of trail running while deepening my connection to the community.

Devin Pancake

He/him
Salt Lake City, UT
Coached by: Joe McConaughy

Running Goals:

  • Complete my first 100 miler
  • Set trail FKT’s
  • Foster a deeper connection with the Ultra community
I began running and competing at the age of 12 while growing up in rural Northeast Ohio. During high school, I moved to Utah, where I began to find success on the track and developed a love for trail running. I had the incredible opportunity to compete in track and cross country at Utah State University for five years, and since graduating, I’ve completed three 50k races and one 50-mile race.

I applied for this scholarship to build stronger connections within the sport and to gain the structure and support needed to achieve my goals. While I have considerable experience in running, I still lack the deeper knowledge of ultra-trail running that comes with time and experience. Having the opportunity to work with a coach who can provide that expertise would be invaluable in helping me progress and succeed.

Devin Sharps

He/him
Mesa, AZ
Coached by: Joe McConaughy

Running Goals:

  • Become a pro runner
  • Make a USA team
A veteran who served in the United States Marines for 4 years but spent most of his time growing up in Washington State. I ran when I was younger in the Junior Olympics but never knew it would take me to running ultra marathons on trails!

I applied for the All In Trails scholarship because I wanted the opportunity to work with one of the best coaches who could help me reach my goals in ultra running. I also want bring more diversity into the trail running community!

Erin Rasmussen

She/her
Seattle, WA
Coached by: Lindsey McDonald

Running Goals:

  • Run my first 50k
  • Break 2:40 in the (road) marathon
  • See where running can take me while not taking myself too seriously
As a child, I was active but never excelled in sports. When I found road running in 2020, it became an all consuming passion. I began dipping my toe into trail running when I moved to Seattle for law school, and I look forward to spending more hours in the mountains.

I don’t have an impressive running resume, and my times are slower than other sub-elite women transitioning to trails. Yet, I believe I have untapped potential and a burning desire to see how good I can become at trail running. Being part of the All In Collective and having continued support and community from the collective would get me one step closer to realizing my potential. Guidance from coaches who value the health of the whole person—both physical and mental–is critical if I hope to improve in trail running.

Heemz Lochan

They/them
Queens (Lenape Land), NY
Coached by: Jess Schnier

Running Goals:

  • Run TSP Solo
  • Run the Rut 50k
  • Have fun in the trails
Environmental Justice Lawyer and ultra marathoner! Loves community building, advocating, and finding joy.

I was really inspired by previous scholarship recipients who spoke highly of the inclusivity and support they received. It made trail running feel more welcome and accessible and I was excited to apply and be accepted!

Isabelle Pilson

She/her
Salt Lake City, UT
Coached by: Lindsey McDonald

Running Goals:

  • Balance and oscillate between rest/recovery and exertion to optimize performance
  • Win a 50k
  • Run a sub-3:05 marathon
I have always loved being outside, being in community, and challenging myself. I grew up playing field hockey, playing soccer, and running track and cross country. After playing field hockey in college, I tried out some longer road races and, since moving to the trail mecca of Salt Lake, have grown to love adventuring in the mountains — exploring, growing, and making friends along the way.

I applied for the scholarship because I am seeking to connect more deeply with myself, the trail running community, and the natural world. Having never focused on running and always winged training a bit, I am looking forward to the expertise, structure, and support of having a coach. Through the scholarship, I think I can push my limits while maintaining the fun aspect of the sport.

McKayla Kruger

She/her
Evanston, IL
Coached by: Jarred Ervin

Running Goals:

  • Become a more competitive trail runner
  • Connect with the community 🙂
  • Race my first 100 miler!
I grew up playing volleyball, basketball, and softball in high school. Then, during COVID, I found my love for running! My running phase began with cross country, then quickly shifted to long distance running. Now, I consider myself to be an ultrarunner, with finishes in the marathon, 50K, and 50M distances. As a sophomore in college, I look forward to running farther, further, and faster

I saw this as an opportunity to truly elevate my skills and push my athletic potential to a new level. I know having the guidance of a coach and a community of other trail runners would make it possible. Plus, this aligns with my desire to connect with women and people of color in ultrarunning. We are severely underrepresented, so I would love to join the strides to foster a more inclusive and diverse community in the sport! Running means so much to me, and I can’t wait to grow as an ultrarunner this upcoming year!

Mitch Morris

He/him
Missoula, MT
Coached by: Ryan Miller

Running Goals:

  • Increase my training volume
  • Place top 10 in a major American trail race
  • Compete at OCC
I grew up in Maine and ran cross country and track for Williams College. After college I taught high school history and coached running for a few years before moving to Missoula, Montana to earn my history master’s degree. Since moving to Missoula I have competed on roads, trails, skis, and even treadmill, winning top Montanan honors at the Missoula Marathon and setting the course record in the Rut 11k.

I applied to this scholarship because I am tired of my opportunities in this sport being limited by the money I have at my disposal. People love to say that all runners’ need is a pair of shoes, but only the most gifted athlete could succeed at the highest level without money for race entries and travel, not to mention nutrition, coaching, a gym membership and more. And let’s face it, even that pair of shoes doesn’t come cheap in the era of $300 supershoes. I want to compete against the best, and I would apply for anything that helps give me that opportunity.

MJ Wong Engel

She/her
Seattle, WA
Coached by: Jess Schnier

Running Goals:

  • Run my first 100K and 100M races
  • Complete the Cascades Circumnavigation Challenge
  • Race Western States
I’m a tennis player turned cross country runner turned thru-hiker-ultra-runner. I love running because it nurtures my relationship with myself and the more-than-human world. After hiking the Pacific Crest Trail in 2023, I started spending all my weekends running trails. A few months later, I signed up for my first 50K–and I’ve been hooked ever since!

I applied to this scholarship because I want to run farther, faster, fueled by adventure, joy, and silliness. I’m excited to spend this year writing about the intersections between trail running, climate change, and environmental stewardship while building a climate justice community of runners. I’m also stoked to connect with other Asian American and women/femme/non-binary runners to help advance representation in our sport!

Patrick Fegan

He/him
Boulder, CO
Coached by: Rachel Lemcke

Running Goals:

  • Place top 3 at a competitive 50-100 miler
  • Complete a multiday fastpacking effort
  • Explore different formats of ultrarunning (e.g. Backyard, 12h-24h)
I grew up playing soccer, but quickly converted to running after discovering cross country in high school. I became more serious and started running longer distances with my college club team while at the University of Michigan. After living in New Hampshire and, now, Colorado, it’s hard to stay away from the trails, but I still dabble in an occasional road marathon with friends.

I applied to the All In Trail scholarship hoping to expand my connections, gain knowledge, and support a community and sport that has come to me so much to me. Growing up in the Midwest, I didn’t have much exposure to trails or mountains. As I’ve ventured onto the trails, I was looking for an opportunity to find guidance and share my experiences with others on similar journeys.

Peter Butler

He/him
Seattle, WA
Coached by: Danielle Snyder

Running Goals:

  • Make racing a part of my life again
  • High quality and determined preparation
  • I’d love to see how well I can compete in the trail and skyracing field
I competed for 4 years at University. Trained and raced the year following, and then the last few years I have been running just for the fun of it. I love running and racing

It’s been 3 years since I have trained or raced competitively. I’d like to jump back in and race my heart out.

Sandra Garcia-Hernandez

She/her
Denver, CO
Coached by: Jarred Ervin

Running Goals:

  • Tackle my first skyrun
  • Complete a 100-mile race
  • Run a long-distance race in every state
I began running later in life without an athletic background, but discovering inclusive outdoor programs helped me find a community where I felt connected and valued. Running became a path of perseverance and self-improvement, leading me to complete several ultramarathons and expand into climbing and mountaineering. I’m excited to continue exploring bigger challenges, growing, and promoting diversity on the trails.

Venturing into spaces that lack diversity, and acceptance requires immense courage and resilience. The journey to find acceptance has been transformative, and it has fueled my commitment to creating environments where everyone—regardless of background—feels empowered to explore and thrive. My goal is not only to reach personal milestones but also to share my experiences and knowledge with others in the hopes of seeing more people who look like me at the finish line of ultramarathons.

Timberlin Henderson

He/him, Diné
Farmington, NM
Coached by: Joe McConaughy

Running Goals:

  • I want to be one of the best and respectable runners out there
  • I want my work to speak for itself and I would like to do more cash prize races
  • I want to be known as one of the greatest Native American runners of my time.
I am a Navajo Ultrarunner who uses running as medicine to help heal not only my Navajo people, but everyone else in the running community. My running acts as a voice for my people and demonstrates the strength of my ancestors. I’ve been running since I was 5 and got into ultrarunning in 2016.

I applied to this scholarship because not only do I run for my people, but I run to support my family. I would like to get paid more for how much I invest into my running and would like to run professionally. Being able to run full time and provide for my family would be a dream come true and I would like to learn more about how I can make that happen.
