Calling all young adventurers! Ready to trade the track for mountain views and epic singletrack? Two professional trail runners are teaming up to bring you a one-of-a-kind trail running camp for youth ages 13–19. Whether you’re already a trail junkie or just trail-curious, this week is all about discovering the wild side of running, building confidence in the outdoors, and connecting with a community that gets your love for the run.
You’ll learn everything from trail techniques and mountain safety to wilderness navigation and backcountry etiquette—all while exploring stunning terrain and having the time of your life.
Max & Joe
Joe “Stringbean” McConaughy is in it for the long haul – an ultramarathoner who’s won the 250-mile Cocodona Trail Race and former record holder on the Pacific Crest Trail.
Max King is a master of speed and vert, a collegiate All-American with two world championship titles and a deep love for trail running.
Together, they’ll guide you through the ins and outs of trail running—from adapting your form for rugged terrain to fueling like a pro, reading a map, and so much more

Camp Details
📅 Dates: Monday, July 7 – Friday, July 11
📍 Location: Camp Sheppard, WA (Elevation at 2,600 ft)
👟 Running Mileage: 30–50 miles throughout the week
👥 Ages: 13–19 (If you’re under 14, reach out before registering!)
💪 Minimum Fitness: You should be able to run 4–5 miles on flat ground without stopping. Not sure? Shoot us a message!
🏕️ Capacity: Up to 30 campers
🧭 Our team: 5 adult leaders including coaches, counselors, and a chef

A typical day
What does one do at camp all day long? Wake up with the birds and hit the trails – it’s going to be a good one:
Rise and shine – Grab your gear and get ready for a day of fun ahead.
Communal breakfast – Enjoy a meal with your new friends as we go over today’s itinerary
Trail run – With 4 trails of varying distance and elevation right outside out door, you’ll have incredible trail access.
Midday recharge – Refuel with a tasty lunch
Map and compass workshop – Learn the skills of navigating through wild terrain. Test out your navigational skills with a mini-orienteering adventure
Waterfall hike – Head to Snoquera Falls for a relaxing afternoon hike.
Dinner – Our on-site chef serves up wholesome, delicious meals to keep you going strong
Evening Reflection – Think, write, or chat about what you learned—about the trails, your body, or yourself
Cost and Inclusions
We’ve tried to have this cost all-inclusive. This includes:
- Daily trail runs on breathtaking Pacific Northwest terrain
- Expert-led lessons on running technique, training, recovery, and nutrition
